Abstract

Zusammenfassung Data Science kann als neu(er)es wissenschaftliches Gebiet angesehen werden. Oft definiert man es als Kombination von Statistik und Informatik mit dem speziellen Fokus auf Anwendungen. Auch wenn die Beschreibung recht gut passt, so ist sie doch etwas zu grob. Wir wollen daher in dem nachfolgenden Kapitel die geschichtliche Entwicklung von Data Science etwas genauer beschreiben. Wir beleuchten dabei die zwei „Kulturen“, die vereinfacht gesprochen aus der Statistik und aus der Informatik herrühren und heute im Bereich Data Science eine Symbiose bilden.
