Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die Nutzungsdauer von Produkten hat einen wesentlichen Einfluss auf den Ressourcenverbrauch im gesamten Lebenszyklus ganzer Produktgenerationen. Daraus resultieren unterschiedliche Strategien zur Bekämpfung von Obsoleszenz (das gezielte Verkürzen der Produktlebensdauer), einschließlich rechtlicher Instrumente. Durch diese können Vorgaben oder Anreize gesetzt werden, welche eine längere Verwendung von Produkten ermöglichen. Zudem sind sinnvollere Nutzungsdauern möglich. Die Festlegung technischer Kenngrößen bietet die Möglichkeit einer besseren Überwachung der Lebensdauer von Produkten. Somit werden Mindestanforderungen wie statistische Lebensdauerangaben den Produkten fest zugeschrieben. Diese werden beispielsweise durch Marküberwachungsbehörden geprüft. Angaben dieser Art sind bereits bei einigen Produktgruppen durch Ökodesign-Verordnungen vorgeschrieben. Beleuchtungen und Leuchtmittel sind hierbei ein klassisches Beispiel.
