Abstract

Zusammenfassung Der verhältnismäßig hohe Grad unserer kognitiven Entwicklung erlaubt es uns, Szenarien des künftigen Geschehens vor unserem geistigen Auge zu sehen. Die Bildhaftigkeit, die Präzision und die Reichweite dieser Vorstellungen von dem, was sein könnte, unterscheiden uns nach derzeitigem Stand der Forschung von jedem anderen uns bekannten Wesen. Es ist diese Fähigkeit, die unsere Selbstreflexionen und daraus abgeleiteten Handlungspläne für die Zukunft so greifbar erscheinen lässt. Mit ihrer Hilfe sind wir in der Lage, unser Handeln als Ableitung vergangener Erlebnisse und Empfindungen heraus zu steuern.
