Abstract

Zusammenfassung Vorsichtig geschätzt gehen wir mit Blick auf aktuelle Daten von mehr als einer halben Million Expatriate-Partnern weltweit aus. Nicht nur die Forschungsergebnisse der vergangenen Jahrzehnte, sondern auch die Erkenntnisse der hier vorgestellten qualitativen Befragung von acht Expatriate-Partnern zeigen deutlich, dass viele der bestehenden Unterstützungsangebote für Partner am tatsächlichen Bedarf vorbeigehen. Im vorliegenden Beitrag erklären wir die tragende Rolle von Expatriate-Partnern im Rahmen von Auslandsentsendungen und beschreiben ihre Herausforderungen, vor allem auch im Hinblick auf ihre berufliche Situation im Zielland. Wir illustrieren Fallbeispiele, um praktische Coachingtools für drei spezifische Phasen von Auslandsentsendungen (Entscheidungsfindung, Aufenthalt im Zielland, Reintegration ins Heimatland) herzuleiten und darüber hinaus auch die Wirksamkeit von Coaching für Expatriate-Partner darzulegen.
