Abstract

Zusammenfassung Zeitzeugen berichten von der Gründung des „Journal of Mathematical Economics“ auf einem denkwürdigen Workshop 1972 mit Gérard Debreu und Stephen Smale an der Côte d’Azur. Werner Hildenbrand wird Herausgeber der Zeitschrift und kann vor allem Mathematiker für die Mitarbeit gewinnen. Im Beirat sind u. a. Freddy Delbaen und Hans Föllmer. Die Zeitschrift soll den fachlichen Austausch zwischen Ökonomen und Mathematikern verbessern und entwickelt sich zu einem wichtigen Forum für den internationalen Austausch von Forschungsergebnissen. Am Mathematischen Forschungsinstitut Oberwolfach finden erste Workshops über „Mathematical Economics“ mit internationaler Besetzung statt. Hildenbrand ist nicht nur als Herausgeber tätig. Er engagiert sich auch für ein aktives Forschungsumfeld an der Universität Bonn und einen regen Austausch mit Gérard Debreu und seinen Mitarbeitern an der University of California, Berkeley.
