Abstract

Zusammenfassung Es gibt viele Werte. Das Faktum der Wertemannigfaltigkeit hat uns inzwischen Abstand nehmen lassen von der Verwendung des Wertbegriffs. Wir verwenden das Wort ‚Werte‘ nunmehr normativ-appellativ: wenn wir wünschen, dass alle gemeinsame Werte teilen sollten. Wir sind aber mit der sozialen Erfahrung groß geworden, dass in der Gesellschaft keine fundamentalen Werte mehr gehandelt werden, sondern viele kleine. Mit dem Verschwinden der Redeweise von Werten verschwindet auch ein Ausdruck dafür, aus einer grundlegenden Überzeugung zu handeln. Unser Handeln wird eher regel- oder institutionenopportunistisch vollzogen. Das heißt nicht, dass wir generell opportunistischer werden, sondern lediglich: dass wir unsere Überzeugungen schneller anpassen an das, was in den gesellschaftlichen Kommunikationen an Meinung, Geltung und Relevanz verhandelt wird. In die Redeweise von Werten übersetzt hieße das: dass wir die Werte, die wir teilen, schneller ändern.
