Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die interessantesten mathematischen Probleme sind i. Allg. diejenigen, die man verhältnismäßig einfach formulieren kann, die vielfältige Anwendungsmöglichkeiten in der Mathematik oder anderen Gebieten versprechen und die auch rein für sich betrachtet einen gewissen Reiz haben. So begann ich mit der Einführung zu der Thematik meiner unveröffentlichten Habilitationsschrift [3], und weiter: Das zur Einführung in die Problematik der Arbeit gedachte Problem hat Chancen, als ein solches angesehen zu werden. Wir erlauben uns dabei, eine nichtmathematische Formulierung: Gegeben sei ein durch Glaswände begrenzter konvexer Körper im gewöhnlichen Raum. Wir bilden eine Seifenblase, die zusammen mit der Glaswand ein vorgegebenes Volumen umschließt. Wie klein kann die Oberfläche der Seifenhaut werden? Dieses Kapitel behandelt eine kleine Auswahl von Themen aus der Integralgeometrie. Sie zeigt eine weitere Vielfalt von Fragestellungen der Geometrie.
