Abstract

Zusammenfassung Große Teile der Mathematik sind nur für wenige Experten verstehbar. Daher wird der Öffentlichkeit wenig über forschungsrelevante Aspekte der Mathematik vermittelt. Kann man als Mathematiker eine Auswahl von Forschungsproblemen aus der Mathematik oder einige interessante Anwendungsbeispiele der Mathematik einem Abiturienten erklären, wenn die Mathematik-Kenntnisse aus der Schule eher verblasst sind? Kann man einem Mathematik-Lehrer einige ungelöste Probleme aus der Mathematik erklären, die zur Beschreibung nur den Einsatz elementarer Begriffe aus der Mathematik erfordern? Dann könnte er solche Probleme auswählen, die er für einen möglichen Einsatz in der Schule einstuft. Das vorliegende Buch möchte Antworten auf diese Fragen geben. Die Fülle der standardmäßig an Universitäten für alle Fachbereiche vermittelten Kenntnisse der Mathematik müssen anderen Lehrwerken vorbehalten bleiben. Bei Problemen aus der Geometrie sollen meine Modelle und viele Abbildungen helfen, einen schnellen Zugang zu ausgewählten Problemen der Geometrie zu finden.
