Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die Digitalisierung schreitet auch im Handel unaufhaltsam voran. Seit jeher hat der Handel auf eine intelligente Nutzung von Technologie gesetzt – die Margen des Geschäfts erfordern ein besonders klares Verständnis des Geschäftsnutzens, bevor weitreichende Investitionen getätigt werden – und umgekehrt wird gezielt investiert, sobald sich dadurch klare Vorteile in Wettbewerbs- und Kostenposition ergeben. In derselben Weise erfolgt derzeit die Digitalisierung der Geschäftssysteme des Handels. Natürlich besteht im Vergleich zu vorhergegangenen Technologisierungsschritten eine besondere Herausforderung: Die Geschwindigkeit, mit der etablierte ebenso wie neue Wettbewerber bestehende Geschäftsmodelle angreifen und erfolgreich in Frage stellen, ist um ein Vielfaches höher als in der Vergangenheit.
