Abstract

Zusammenfassung Der Einzelhandel durchlebt im Zuge der Digitalisierung eine fundamentale Transformation, die selbst die mit dem Aufkommen der Selbstbedienung einhergegangenen Veränderungen der Handelslandschaft (Müller-Hagedorn/Preißner 1999, S. 150) in den Schatten stellt. Das Konsumentenverhalten verändert sich in einer enormen Geschwindigkeit. Der Umsatz im Online-Handel konnte 2014 die 40-Milliarden-Euro-Grenze durchbrechen. Damit wird im Einzelhandel heute bereits jeder zehnte Euro online ausgegeben (IFH Köln 2014a, S. 5f.). Bis 2020 wird der online generierte Einzelhandelsumsatz – je nach Szenario – sogar bei rund 15 bis 25 Prozent liegen (vgl. Abb. 1).
