Abstract

Zusammenfassung Wir haben bisher den Riß eines Kreises nur in den Fällen behandelt, in denen die Ebene des Kreises zu der Rißtafel oder zu den Projektionsstrahlen parallel ist. Wenn wir jetzt ganz allgemein die krumme Linie oder Kurve untersuchen, die sich als Riß des Kreises bei irgendeiner Parallelprojektion ergibt, so können wir stets die Ebene des Kreises in die Rißtafel umlegen und erhalten nach dem ersten Satz von Nr. 127 den Riß als das affine Bild des umgelegten Kreises. Mit Hilfe der Gesetze der Affinität werden wir aus den Eigenschaften des Kreises die Eigenschaften der Kurve ableiten, die sein affines Bild ist, und dabei erkennen, daß es sich um diejenigen der Ellipse handelt. Deshalb wollen wir diesen Namen bereits jetzt einführen, jedoch ohne jene Eigenschaften als bekannt vorauszusetzen und nur mit der folgenden Begriffsbestimmung: Unter einer Ellipse verstehen wir eine Kurve, die sich als affines Bild eines Kreises ergibt.
