Abstract

Zusammenfassung Im Jahre 1922 hat F. Thureau-Dangin in den „Tablettes d’Uruk“2) (künftig mit TU abgekürzt) eine Sammlung von Texten veröffentlicht, die der spätbabylonischen Zeit (Achämeniden- und Seleukidenzeit) angehören. Sämtliche Tafeln stammen aus Uruk (dem heutigen Warka). Unter diesen befindet sich neben astronomischen Texten und einer Reziprokentafel auch ein eigentlich mathematischer Text. Über ihn (es ist Nr. 33 in der Zählung der TU) schreibt Thureau-Dangin: „Opérations arithmétiques (tablette fragmentaire). Probablement première moitié du second siècle des Seleucides“3). In der Tat wird in der Unterschrift als Schreiber der Tafel ein Vertreter einer großen Priesterfamilie genannt, die aus anderen Texten der Seleukidenzeit schon lange bekannt ist4).
