Abstract

Zusammenfassung Wir wollen uns dieses Mal wieder mit einer Maximum- oder richtiger einer Minimumaufgabe beschäftigen. Sie werden das Muster eines ebenso anschaulichen wie feingeschliffenen mathematischen Gedankens kennenlernen. Er stammt von dem Mathematiker Hermann Amandus Schwarz, der bis vor kurzem noch in Berlin lehrte, und dessen Genie sich ebenso in einer solchen mathematischen Miniatur äußert, wie in seinen ganz großen, umfassenden Arbeiten.
