Abstract

Zusammenfassung 6 ist gleich 2 mal 3. Die 7 läßt sich nicht in ähnlicher Weise in zwei Faktoren zerlegen. Darum nennt man 7 eine Primzahl. Primzahl nennt man also eine ganze positive Zahl, die sich nicht in zwei kleinere Faktoren zerlegen läßt. Auch 5, auch 3 ist Primzahl; 4 nicht, da 4 = 2·2 ist. Die 2 selbst ist auch Primzahl zu nennen. Bei der 1 hat es keinen rechten Sinn mehr, davon zu reden. Die ersten Primzahlen sind also: 2, 3, 5, 7, 11, 13, 17, 19, 23, 29, 31, 37,... Dem unmittelbaren Anblick nach ist ihre Reihe etwas kraus; ein einfaches Gesetz bietet sich darin nicht sofort dar.
