Abstract

Zusammenfassung Neben den bisher geschilderten (direkten) Ausgleichungsverfahren hat sich in manchen Fällen die Ausgleichung durch schrittweise Annäherung (Iteration) als zweckmäßig erwiesen. Die hierher zu rechnenden Verfahren sind wohl zu unterscheiden von den in § 1 genannten Näherungsausgleichungen, bei denen eine Verminderung der Ausgleichungsarbeit durch Verzicht auf letzte Strenge angestrebt wird. Durch Iteration erhält man, sofern nur die Ausgangsgleichungen mit theoretischer Strenge aufgestellt werden, dieselben Werte der ausgeglichenen Größen wie bei den direkten Verfahren. Ein Satz von Gauss, der hierher gehört, ist bereits im § 35 zitiert worden. Auch die mittleren Fehler der Beobachtungen selbst lassen sich mit ausreichender Genauigkeit ermitteln. Lediglich die Berechnung von Gewichtsreziproken und Funktionsgewichten zur Ermittlung des mittleren Fehlers abgeleiteter Größen bereitet so große Schwierigkeiten, daß davon meistens abgesehen wird.
