Abstract

In a recent paper [8] the problem of obtaining a precise bound for the smallest solution in primes p 1, p 2, p 3 of the linear equation was solved completely. The problem was first raised by Baker in connection with his well-known work [1] on the solubility of certain diophantine inequalities involving primes. Our results in [8] include, as particular cases, the well-known Vinogradov’s three prime theorem and Linnik’s theorem on the least prime in an arithmetic progression.
