Abstract

Zusammenfassung Die Ausgleichung von korrelierten Beobachtungen, deren Fehlerfortpflanzungsgesetz bereits in § 6.2 und § 20.1 abgeleitet ist, wird vor allem dank den Arbeiten von J. M. Tienstra in jüngerer Zeit stärker beachtet. Das Problem selbst ist — wenn auch ohne den Begriff „korrelierte Beobachtungen“ — bereits von F. W. Bessel gelöst, der dazu das Verfahren der vermittelnden Beobachtungen mit Bedingungsgleichungen entwickelte. Wir bringen daher zunächst dieses Verfahren (§ 40) und die ihm verwandte Methode der bedingten Beobachtungen mit Unbekannten (§ 41). Diese beiden Verfahren sind gleichzeitig notwendige Zwischenglieder für die dann folgende von F. R. Helmert eingeführte Ausgleichung korrelierter Beobachtungen mit äquivalenten Fehlergleichungen (§ 42). Wir behandeln schließlich im Vorgriff auf Abschnitt VII die auf die Matrizenrechnung abgestellte Ausgleichung korrelierter Beobachtungen mit Hilfe der Matrix der Kofaktoren (§ 43).
