Abstract

Zusammenfassung Unternehmen bestehen nicht nur aus geplanten Strukturen, sondern ebenso aus einem Geflecht unausgesprochener Vorstellungen und Erwartungen. Häufig resultieren daraus feste Überzeugungen über richtiges und falsches Handeln. Diese informale Organisation vermittelt Orientierung dort, wo Regeln, Pläne und formale Steuerungsinstrumente an ihre Grenzen stoßen. Sie kann individuelle Leistungen stark fördern oder begrenzen und wirkt so auf den Unternehmenserfolg. Das Kapitel entwickelt Unternehmenskultur systematisch als informale Organisation und analysiert zentrale Wirkmechanismen, Ausdrucksformen und Einflussfaktoren. Dabei lassen sich diese emergenten Prozesse zumindest in Grenzen formen. Zugleich wird deutlich, warum kulturelle Orientierung nicht losgelöst von Macht, Politik und ethisch-normativer Rahmensetzung verstanden werden kann. Informale Organisation ist damit weit mehr als ein bloßer atmosphärischer Hintergrund. Sie kann zur zentralen Koordinationsinstanz und zum heimlichen Zentrum der Handlungssteuerung werden.
