Abstract

Zusammenfassung Informationsmanagement ist eine zentrale Voraussetzung für effiziente, sichere und strategisch ausgerichtete IT-Arbeit – insbesondere in großen, international tätigen Unternehmen. Anhand des fiktiven Unternehmens Exempleon Solutions zeigt dieses Paper praxisnah, welche Informationsarten in der IT relevant sind, warum ein systematisches Informationsmanagement notwendig ist und wie es in unterschiedlichen Bereichen der IT – von Planung über Betrieb bis hin zu Projekten – umgesetzt werden kann. Fallstudien aus typischen IT-Projekten wie dem Aufbau eines Servicekatalogs, eines Informationsrepositorys und eines Data Warehouses verdeutlichen, dass der Erfolg nicht nur von Technik, sondern vor allem von Struktur, Akzeptanz, Pflegeprozessen und der Unterstützung durch das Management abhängt. Das Paper schließt mit konkreten Handlungsfeldern für Fach- und Führungskräfte in IT-Organisationen sowie einer Zusammenfassung zentraler Erfolgsfaktoren für ein wirkungsvolles Informationsmanagement.
