Abstract

Zusammenfassung Diese Studie untersucht, wie österreichische Landesspitalholdings auf die Anforderungen der Corporate Sustainability Reporting Directive reagieren. Auf Basis von 13 Expert:inneninterviews und einer Dokumentenanalyse zeigt die Untersuchung, dass die Environmental, Social, Governance (ESG)-Berichterstattung derzeit vor allem durch regulatorischen Druck motiviert ist und mehrheitlich defensiv, mit Fokus auf soziale und Governance-Themen, umgesetzt wird. Umweltaspekte bleiben unterrepräsentiert, obwohl der Gesundheitssektor einen hohen CO2-Fußabdruck aufweist. Die Integration von ESG in strategische Prozesse steckt überwiegend noch in den Anfängen. Die Ergebnisse belegen ein Spannungsfeld zwischen Compliance und substanziellem Wandel sowie die Bedeutung von Führung und Mitarbeitenden als interne Treiber.
