Abstract

Zusammenfassung Viele Vereine und andere Nonprofit-Organisationen nutzen in einem substanziellen Maß Freiwilligenarbeit, um ihre Leistungen zu erstellen und ihre Mission bzw. ihre gesellschaftlichen Anliegen zu erfüllen. Diese spezielle Form der Humanressource unterliegt jedoch seit geraumer Zeit einem fundamentalen Wandel, der weiterhin andauert und oft auch allgemeine gesellschaftliche Transformationsprozesse widerspiegelt. Vor diesem Hintergrund geht der Beitrag nach einigen grundlegenden Bemerkungen zur Freiwilligenarbeit und zu aktuellen empirischen Daten zum freiwilligen Engagement auf Faktoren ein, welche die Aufnahme, die Intensität und die Dauer eines freiwilligen Engagements beeinflussen. In der Folge thematisiert er den demographischen Wandel, die Frage der Vergütungen und die Digitalisierung als Treiber der angesprochenen Transformation, um im finalen Abschnitt einige Schlussfolgerungen für ein zukunftsorientiertes Management der Freiwilligkeit zu ziehen.
