Abstract

Zusammenfassung Das Kapitel untersucht die Entwicklung und Dynamik der chinesisch-deutschen Handelsbeziehungen seit den 1970er-Jahren und analysiert deren aktuelle Herausforderungen. Es zeigt, dass China heute einer der wichtigsten Handelspartner Deutschlands ist, jedoch ein dauerhaft hohes Handelsdefizit zu Lasten Deutschlands besteht. Die wirtschaftliche Abhängigkeit wurde insbesondere seit der COVID-19-Pandemie intensiv diskutiert und führte zu einer Neubewertung der deutschen China-Strategie. Diese Strategie setzt auf „De-Risking“ statt „Decoupling“ und zielt auf Risikominderung, Diversifizierung und technologische Souveränität, ohne die enge wirtschaftliche Verflechtung völlig aufzugeben. Gleichzeitig wird auf methodische Unterschiede in der Handelsstatistik hingewiesen, die zu Diskrepanzen in den bilateralen Handelsbilanzen führen. Insgesamt verdeutlicht der Beitrag, dass die Beziehungen zwischen beiden Staaten zwar ökonomisch eng, politisch jedoch zunehmend von Spannungen und geopolitischen Rivalitäten geprägt sind.
