Abstract

Zusammenfassung Diese Arbeit befasst sich mit regional tätigen Kreditinstituten, insbesondere Sparkassen und Genossenschaftsbanken, die im Folgenden unter dem Begriff „Regionalbanken“ zusammengefasst werden. Ein besonderes Merkmal dieser geografisch verankerten Kreditbanken ist das sogenannte Regionalprinzip, welches ihre Geschäftstätigkeit hauptsächlich in einem festgelegten, geografisch begrenzten Gebiet beschränkt. Das damit verbundene Wertesystem stellt ein wichtigstes Alleinstellungsmerkmal dar (vgl. [1] S. 32–33) und spiegelt sich in ihrem stark gemeinwohlorientierten Auftrag wider. Regionalbanken fördern einerseits die ortsansässige Bevölkerung und engagieren sich aktiv für deren Unterstützung. Anderseits sind Sparkassen und Genossenschaftsbanken fest in ihren jeweiligen Regionen verwurzelt und tragen maßgeblich zur wirtschaftlichen und gesellschaftlichen Entwicklung vor Ort bei. Durch die aktive Förderung lokaler Unternehmen, Vereine und Gemeinden leisten sie einen wesentlichen Beitrag zur regionalen wirtschaftlichen Entwicklung (vgl. [2]).
