Abstract

Zusammenfassung Bei der Verbrennung von Kohle, Öl und Gas werden Treibhausgase freigesetzt, vor allem Kohlenstoffdioxid (CO2). Ein übermäßiger Ausstoß überlastet die natürlichen Kohlenstoffsenken und treibt den Klimawandel voran. Die Politik versucht, der Erderwärmung mit Standards, Subventionen, Verboten und Preisen bzw. Maßnahmenkombinationen zu begegnen. Im Orchester der Klimapolitik ist die CO2-Bepreisung allerdings das zentrale Instrument. Denn in Kombination mit anderen Klimaschutzmaßnahmen sorgt sie dafür, dass diese ihre volle Wirkmacht entfalten. Im Ergebnis bedeutet das: Die CO2-Bepreisung hat entscheidende Lenkungswirkung für die Klimapolitik.
