Abstract

Zusammenfassung Der Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit der bislang wenig bekannten Diensteinheit IX, einer Spezialeinheit der ehemaligen Volkspolizei der DDR, zur Zeit ihres Bestehens vergleichbar mit den Spezialeinsatzkommandos (SEKs) der westdeutschen Bundesländer und der Grenzschutzgruppe 9 (GSG 9) der BRD. Dabei wird die geschichtliche Entwicklung der Diensteinheit kursorisch nachgezeichnet. Zentrale polizeiliche Aspekte von Ausrüstung, Training und Einsatztätigkeit werden behandelt und das Verhältnis zum Ministerium für Staatssicherheit diskutiert. Der Beitrag schließt mit einem Ausblick auf eine mögliche zukünftige polizeihistorische Forschung zum beschriebenen Thema.
