Abstract

Zusammenfassung Unternehmen stehen vor großen Herausforderungen, darunter technologische Fortschritte, erhöhte Marktdynamik und zunehmende Komplexität. Um wettbewerbsfähig zu bleiben, setzen viele auf Prozessorientierung, um effizienter arbeiten und flexibler auf Veränderungen reagieren zu können. Die Forschung konzentriert sich meist auf Prozessorientierung innerhalb einer klassischen Organisationsstruktur, während es nur wenige Studien zur vollumfänglichen Prozessorganisation gibt, bei der Geschäftsprozesse im Mittelpunkt stehen und die funktionale Struktur an Bedeutung verliert. Dieser Beitrag untersucht Chancen und Herausforderungen der vollumfänglichen Prozessorganisation sowie die in der Praxis vorherrschenden Reifegrade. Experteninterviews zeigen, dass die vollumfängliche Prozessorganisation oft als Zielbild gilt und positive Auswirkungen auf Kundenfokus, Produktivität und finanzielle Performance hat, jedoch auch Herausforderungen wie beispielsweise Prozessmanagementdefizite mit sich bringt.
