Abstract

Zusammenfassung MacMillan forderte bereits 1986: „To really learn about Entrepreneurship, let's study habitual Entrepreneurs“. Dieser Forderung sind in den vergangenen Jahren viele Forscher nachgekommen. Daraus hat sich eine breite Palette an Forschungsliteratur zu Mehrfach-Entrepreneuren entwickelt. Immer wieder steht jedoch die Forschung vor der Herausforderung einer einheitlichen und sachdienlichen Definition der Begrifflichkeiten. Dieses Kapitel gibt einen Überblick über gängige Klassifizierungen und würdigt diese kritisch. Darüber hinaus wird das Ausmaß von Mehrfach-Entrepreneurship in Deutschland und im internationalen Vergleich analysiert. Im Ergebnis lässt sich feststellen, dass es sich hierbei nicht um eine Randerscheinung handelt. Daher scheint es vor den aktuellen Herausforderungen unserer Zeit wichtiger als je, das Phänomen des Mehrfach-Entrepreneurs genauer zu analysieren und eventuelle Rückschlüsse für eine verbesserte Förderung von Entrepreneurship zu gewinnen. So hat die fast 40 Jahre alte Forderung von MacMillan auch heute nicht an Aktualität verloren.
