Abstract

Zusammenfassung Erhebungen des Freiheitsgefühls von Menschen, ihre politische Meinung öffentlich kundzutun, zeigen, dass dieses insbesondere seit 2011 stark abgenommen hat. Dieser Befund wirft die Frage auf: Welche gesellschaftlichen Veränderungen hat es in diesem Zeitraum gegeben, die erklären können, warum das Freiheitsgefühl der Menschen rückläufig ist? Da für die Prägung des Meinungsklimas die klassischen reichweitenstarken Medien und die sozialen Medien eine herausgehobene Rolle spielen, wird analysiert, wie sich das Meinungsklima durch sie verändert hat. Anhand des gesellschaftlichen Teilsystems „Wissenschaft“ wird zudem aufgezeigt, wie mithilfe institutioneller Sanktionsmittel das Diskursklima verengt werden kann.
