Abstract

Zusammenfassung Spätestens seit der globalen Finanzkrise 2008 sind Werte wie Nachhaltigkeit und Integrität für Kunden in der Finanzbranche weitestgehend etablierte Begriffe. In Europa konnte eine bereits länger existierende, bis dahin jedoch eher in der Nische aktive Gruppierung von wertebasierten, auf soziale und ökologische Themen spezialisierten Banken vom Trend in diese Richtung nach der Krise verstärkt profitieren. Die folgende deskriptive Untersuchung zeigt, wie stark diese Institute sich in den letzten Jahren über dem Marktwachstum von etablierten, öffentlich gehandelten Großbanken entwickeln konnten. Für folgende Analyse wurden detaillierte Bilanz-, Kapitalisierungs- und Profitabilitätsdaten für 15 europäische Nachhaltigkeitsbanken der Global Alliance for Banking on Values mit den Werten der 15 größten börsennotierten Banken in Europa für die Jahre 2016 bis 2023 verglichen.
