Abstract

Zusammenfassung Das vorliegende Kapitel beschreibt die Entwicklung der Stadt Darmstadt, die seit 1997 den Ehrentitel „Wissenschaftsstadt“ trägt. Es wird eindrucksvoll dargestellt, wie die Zusammenarbeit zwischen dem Land Hessen, der Stadt Darmstadt sowie verschiedenen Hochschulen und wissenschaftlichen Institutionen ein Forum des Austauschs für die Wissenschaft geschaffen hat. Heute gehört Darmstadt zu den bedeutendsten Forschungs- und Bildungsstandorten in Deutschland. Eine besondere Rolle spielt dabei das Wissenschafts- und Kongresszentrum darmstadtium.
