Abstract

Zusammenfassung Dieses Kapitel fasst den theoretischen Ansatz für dieses Buch sowie die wichtigsten empirischen Ergebnisse und deren wirtschaftspolitische Bedeutung zusammen. Es werden die drei tragenden Säulen der Wettbewerbsfähigkeit identifiziert und die Bedeutung unterschiedlicher Zeithorizonte für die Standortpolitik erläutert. Es folgt eine Diskussion der positiven und negativen Wechselwirkungen zwischen den Zielen (i) wirtschaftliche Leistungsfähigkeit, (ii) sozialer Ausgleich und (iii) ökologische Transformation. In der empirischen Bestandsaufnahme werden zunächst mit Hilfe des WIFO-Radars der Wettbewerbsfähigkeit die relativen Stärken und Schwächen des Wirtschaftsstandortes verortet. Darauf folgt eine Zusammenfassung der wichtigsten Ergebnisse zu ausgewählten Bestimmungsfaktoren der Standortqualität im internationalen Vergleich. Das abschließende Resümee zeigt notwendige Prioritäten und Schwerpunkte für die österreichische Standortpolitik auf.
