Abstract

Zusammenfassung Angesichts des sich verschärfenden Engpasses in der Verfügbarkeit akademisch qualifizierter Fachkräfte rückt die Attraktivität einer wissenschaftlichen Karriere im Vergleich zu beruflichen Perspektiven in der Wirtschaft zunehmend in den Vordergrund. Um diesen Alternativenvergleich aus der Perspektive potenzieller Nachwuchswissenschaftler:innen besser zu verstehen und Implikationen zur Attraktivitätssteigerung entsprechender Karrieren im Wissenschaftsbereich ableiten zu können, erfolgt zunächst eine Charakterisierung wissenschaftlichen Arbeitens und eine Beleuchtung des Übergangsgeschehens im Wissenschaftssystem. Genau diese Übergänge werden durch Erfahrungen in einem hoch kompetitiven Wissenschaftsbetrieb mit vielen Unsicherheiten für die berufliche Karriere beeinflusst. Dazu kommen Arbeitsbedingungen, die sich oftmals deutlich von zunehmend mitarbeiter:innenorientierten Angeboten in der Wirtschaft unterscheiden.
