Abstract

Zusammenfassung In Deutschland ist kaum eine Branche nicht von Fachkräfteengpässen betroffen. Mit der schon jetzt schwierigen Rekrutierungssituation und Szenarien für die weiter schwindende Fachkräftebasis werden Auswirkungen auf die Wirtschaftsleistung aber auch für die Bewältigung von wichtigen gesellschaftlichen Herausforderungen in Verbindung gebracht. Auch wenn dem Wissenschaftssystem eine zentrale Rolle für die Innovationsdynamik in Deutschland zugeschrieben wird, sind analoge Warnrufe und aus etwaigen Engpässen abgeleitete Forderungen rar. Offensichtlich ist die Zuversicht, dass die Wissenschaft um diese Entwicklung herumkommt, groß. Vielleicht werden aber auch die bereits spürbaren Effekte mit den damit in der Zukunft erwartbaren Konsequenzen für die Sicherung der akademisch qualifizierten Fachkräftebasis sowie für die aus der Forschung kommenden Impulse für Innovationen schlicht unterschätzt. In diesem Kapitel werden genau diese Zusammenhänge in quantitativer und qualitativer Dimension zugänglich gemacht.
