Abstract

Zusammenfassung Egal, ob von Business Angels, Convertibles oder VC-Money die Rede ist: Vielen Menschen scheint vorzuschweben, dass Fundraising der Kerninhalt jedes Gründer*innen-Lebens ist. Dabei können auch B&M Business Founder ihr Unternehmen zum erfolgreichen Exit führen – und das ganz ohne einen einzigen Cent an fremdem Funding. Zugegeben: Im Hinblick auf die medial vermittelten Millionen, traumhaften Aufstiege und katastrophalen Abstürze scheint das Startup-Geschäft ein direkter Verwandter des Show-Business zu sein. Doch auch im Letzteren gilt: Man sollte keinen Vertrag unterschreiben, ohne das Kleingedruckte zu lesen. Und schon mancher CEO wähnte sich als UHNWI, bevor ihn Dilutions und Liquidation Preferences wieder auf Normalmaß zurechtstutzten. Ein Trostpflaster: Auch die GPs von Venture-Capital-Firmen müssen fundraisen und konstant Ergebnisse liefern. Das lässt GründerInnen und Investor*innen am Ende des Tages zusammenrücken – selbst wenn nicht immer ein Unicorn dabei herausspringt.
