Abstract

Zusammenfassung Supermärkte haben einen erheblichen ökologischen Fußabdruck und prägen Städte durch ihre Architektur und großen Parkplätze. Sebastian Schels argumentiert, dass diese Einzelhandelsgiganten, oft als umweltbelastend kritisiert, das Potenzial haben, Impulse für eine nachhaltige Bau-, Konsum- und Agrarwende zu geben. Er betont, dass Supermärkte durch zirkuläres Bauen, innovative Klimastrategien und gezielte Sortimentsgestaltung zu Game-Changern werden könnten, die nicht nur ihren ökologischen Fußabdruck reduzieren, sondern auch die Städte positiv beeinflussen. Supermärkte sollten zu Orten der Quality Economy transformiert werden, die weniger Ressourcen verbrauchen und das Stadtklima verbessern.
