Abstract

Zusammenfassung Albert Einstein wurde am 14. März 1979 in Ulm geboren. Infolge mehrerer Wohnsitzwechsel seiner Eltern lernte Albert verschiedene Schulen kennen, das Leopold-Gymnasium in München und Schulen in der Schweiz. Da er das Gymnasium ohne Abitur verließ und bei der Aufnahmeprüfung für das Mathematik-/Physikstudium an der ETH Zürich in den beiden Fächern zwar sehr gute, in anderen Fächern jedoch nicht ausreichende Noten erzielte, holte er nach einem Schuljahr die Reifeprüfung in Aarau nach. Im Studium hörte er bei Minkowski Mathematik, die er „in ihren subtileren Teilen für puren Luxus“ hielt, änderte jedoch später bei der Arbeit an der allgemeinen Relativitätstheorie seine Meinung. Nach dem Studium hatte er, der sich selbst als nur mittelmäßigen Studenten bezeichnete, das Lehrerdiplom für Mathematik/Physik in der Tasche, fand aber keine Assistentenstelle und schlug sich als Hauslehrer durch. Der Vater seines Studienfreundes Marcel Großmann vermittelte ihm 1902 eine Anstellung im Berner Patentamt.
