Abstract

Zusammenfassung Newton ist der Urheber der Infinitesimalrechnung und Leibniz ein Plagiator. So steht es sinngemäß im 1705 formulierten Urteil der Royal Society, deren Präsident Newton damals war. Dies widerlegt Thomas Sonar, Professor in Braunschweig. Heute ist die Meinung verbreitet, dass beide Mathematiker die Infinitesimalrechnung unabhängig voneinander und in verschiedener Notation geschaffen haben. Das Basler Brüderpaar Johann und Jakob Bernoulli machte die Leibniz’sche Schreibweise im kontinentalen Europa bekannt.
