Abstract

Zusammenfassung Seit mehreren Jahrzehnten stehen Sportgroßveranstaltungen aufgrund mangelnder Nachhaltigkeit in sozialer, ökologischer und/oder ökonomischer Hinsicht in der Kritik. Ziel dieses Beitrags ist es, die Zielkonflikte der Nachhaltigkeitsdimensionen für Sportgroßveranstaltungen aufzuzeigen und mit der gemeinsamen Ausrichtung durch mehrere Städte oder Länder – dem Co-Hosting – einen Ansatz für eine nachhaltigere Umsetzung von Sportgroßveranstaltungen vorzustellen sowie das Potenzial und zentrale Herausforderungen für die Umsetzung von co-hosted Sportevents aufzuzeigen. Das Kapitel gibt einen Überblick zu den theoretischen Grundlagen und zum Stand der Forschung zur Nachhaltigkeit von Sportgroßveranstaltungen. Anschließend erfolgt eine Einführung zum Co-Hosting von Sportevents, gefolgt von einer Diskussion zu den zentralen Herausforderungen für nachhaltige Sportgroßveranstaltungen durch Co-Hosting. Im Ergebnis der Analyse trägt dieses Buchkapitel dazu bei, dass die Erkenntnisse zum Co-Hosting unter Nachhaltigkeitsaspekten erweitert, Zielkonflikte in Bezug auf die Nachhaltigkeitsdimensionen für Sportgroßveranstaltungen dargestellt und ein konzeptioneller Rahmen für eine integrative Analyse von Sportgroßveranstaltungen vorgestellt werden. Ferner werden Handlungsempfehlungen für die Praxis und weitere Forschung aufgezeigt sowie ein Ausblick gegeben.
