Abstract

Zusammenfassung Angesichts des fortschreitenden Klimawandels justieren Unternehmen nahezu aller Branchen ihre Geschäftsmodelle unter Nachhaltigkeitsgesichtspunkten sukzessive neu. In diesem Kontext hat auch das Nachhaltigkeitsmanagement in Banken in den letzten Jahren einen zunehmenden Stellenwert eingenommen. Neben den branchenübergreifend zu berücksichtigenden europäischen und nationalen Regelwerken mit dem Ziel der schrittweisen Reduktion der Treibhausgasemissionen bis hin zur Klimaneutralität haben in funktionaler Hinsicht insbesondere die Sustainable Finance-Initiativen sowie in branchenspezifischer Sicht die Verlautbarungen von EZB, EBA und BaFin zum Umgang mit Nachhaltigkeitsrisiken praktische Relevanz. Neben diesen regulatorischen Pflichten mit unmittelbar oder mittelbar positiver Wirkrichtung für den Klimaschutz zeigen sich allerdings auch Überzeugungen und Haltungen als Grundlage für klimanützliche Aktivitäten der Banken. Diese Motivlage besitzt das Potenzial für eine besondere Breitenwirkung, die mit Blick auf die bevorstehenden Herausforderungen auch erforderlich sein wird.
