Abstract

Zusammenfassung Um die Nachhaltigkeit einer Webseite abzuschätzen und zu optimieren, stehen zahlreiche kostenlose Tools für Einsteiger und Fortgeschrittene zur Verfügung. Mit dem Website Carbon Calculator lässt sich in Verbindung mit dem Green Web Checker abschätzen, wo die getestete Webseite im Vergleich zu Millionen anderer steht und ob der Provider Ökostrom nutzt. Die Tools Beacon und Ecoping liefern tiefer gehende Kenntnisse, wie sich das Datenvolumen auf unterschiedliche Seitenelemente verteilt und im Laufe der Zeit entwickelt. Über externe Inhalte und deren Provider informieren die beiden Tools „Are my third parties green?“ und ReqCheck. Entwickler finden in Ecograder, Google Lighthouse, PageSpeed Insights, der Google Search Console und dem kostenpflichtigen Screaming Frog SEO-Spider tiefgehende technische Optimierungstipps. Wie sich das gesamte Datenvolumen und der CO2-Fußabdruck anhand der Server-Logfiles oder den Besucherzahlen exakt ermitteln bzw. abschätzen lässt, wird ebenfalls thematisiert.
