Abstract

Zusammenfassung Forscher von Lebenszyklen touristischer Destinationen unterscheiden in der Stagnationsphase grundsätzlich zwischen drei Entwicklungen: die Stabilisierung (als Versuch, die Besucherzahlen zu halten, ohne dass sich das Tourismusprodukt wesentlich verändert); die Verjüngung (als Versuch, die Besucherzahl durch wesentliche Änderungen am Produkt zu halten oder zu erhöhen); der Verfall (wenn eine Steigerung oder Aufrechterhaltung der Gäste nicht erreicht wird und eine sanierungsbedürftige Infrastruktur nachgewiesen wird). Wie es in der Praxis so oft geschieht, ergab sich auf den Kanarischen Inseln jedoch keiner dieser prägenden Fälle.
