Abstract

During my school days, my teachers either loved or hated me. I was always—even at inappropriate times—ready for jokes, and with many teachers I was a kind of reminder of what their own children should not be. For other teaching staff, my style was rather refreshing and positive. When my nephew, Adrian, visited the same school over 30 years later and talked in class, he was screamed at by my old teacher with the words: “Richard, shut up!” Even if this is a negative example, I deduce the thesis for the sales business from it: Be different from the others! In business life, the streamlined form often doesn’t lead to the desired success. If you sound like everyone else, you run the risk of becoming just a number. Take on corners and edges that make you noticeable and thus attention-grabbing. Interrupt common and predictable patterns.
