Abstract

Zusammenfassung Dieser Beitrag bietet einen Überblick zur Verkehrspsychologie und zu ihren zentralen Themen. Die Verkehrspsychologie beschäftigt sich mit dem Verhalten und Erleben von Menschen im Verkehrs- und Transportwesen, welches sich aus verschiedenen psychologischen Perspektiven untersuchen lässt. Dabei verfolgt die Verkehrspsychologie neben grundlegenden und allgemeinen Betrachtungen als angewandte Disziplin auch das Ziel, einen Beitrag für mehr Sicherheit im Straßenverkehr zu leisten. Veranschaulicht wird dies am Beispiel, wie sich die Wirkung polizeilicher Verkehrsüberwachung überprüfen lässt und welche Ansatzpunkte sich auf empirischer Basis zur Optimierung polizeilicher Kontrolltätigkeit ableiten lassen. In Bezug auf die Verkehrssicherheit und polizeiliche Präventionsarbeit werden zudem spezifische Gruppen in den Blick genommen, die ein erhöhtes Unfallrisiko aufweisen.
