Abstract

Zusammenfassung Der Begriff Unternehmen ist – lexikalisch betrachtet – nicht eindeutig: Zum einen bezeichnet Unternehmen eine Handlung, wird also vom Verb unternehmen (z.B. was unternehmen wir heute Abend?) abgeleitet. Zum anderen bezeichnet der Begriff in den Wirtschaftswissenschaften eine produzierende Wirtschaftseinheit, wird also synonym mit Unternehmung gebraucht. Oft wird der Begriff Unternehmen mit dem Begriff Betrieb gleichgestellt. Das ist insofern nicht trennscharf, als ein Unternehmen mehrere Betriebe umfassen kann. Gleichwohl folgt auch dieses Buch dieser Unschärfe, indem es zwischen Betrieben (kleine und mittlere) und Unternehmen (Betriebe mit mehr als 1000 Mitarbeiter*innen) unterscheidet. Lexikalisch ist Unternehmen ein Oberbegriff für Wertschöpfungseinheiten in der Ökonomie.
