Abstract

Zusammenfassung Ethik entwickelt sich als eine Teildisziplin aus der Philosophie (Weisheitsliebe, von griech.: philos = Freund, sophia = Weisheit) und ist damit eines der ältesten wissenschaftlichen Themen des Abendlandes. Kernfrage ethischer Diskussion ist die Frage nach dem Guten, und wie man dieses Gute in der Alltagspraxis umsetzen kann. Zentral für die antiken ethischen Diskussionen ist der Begriff Tugend (Herkunft dieses Begriffes ist etymologisch nicht klar, häufig in Verbindung mit taugen gebracht). Tugend bedeutet die Fähigkeit, die Kraft und das Potenzial, Gutes zu leisten. Tugend ist also die Befähigung des Menschen, das umzusetzen, was er als gut und wertvoll erkannt hat.
