Abstract

Zusammenfassung Das zweite Kapitel führt in die betrieblich-technischen Grundlagen der Eisenbahn ein. Da diese auf den physikalischen Eigenschaften des Systems aufbauen, werden zunächst grundlegende Zusammenhänge wie das Zusammenspiel von Stahlrad und Stahlschiene erläutert. Anschließend werden in den beiden Hauptteilen die Themen Bahnbetrieb und Bahninfrastruktur beschrieben, wobei sich dabei viele Aspekte gegenseitig bedingen: So bestimmen die betrieblichen Anforderungen, z. B. die gewünschte Höchstgeschwindigkeit, wie die Infrastruktur gestaltet sein muss; umgekehrt bedingen technische Unterschiede an Ländergrenzen betriebliche Schnittstellen. Die Beschreibung der Themen geschieht einerseits generisch, andererseits wird stets ein Schwerpunkt auf solche Aspekte gelegt, die von besonderer Relevanz für den Schienengüterverkehr sind. Das Kapitel schließt mit einem Ausblick auf mögliche Entwicklungspfade der Teilsysteme.
