Abstract

Corporate governance is a framework of action for legally compliant and conscientious management. As the core of organizational value creation, it deals with the aspects of risk and power. In this context, it addresses fields of action such as business models, portfolio and performance, but also, in particular, control systems and an adequate corporate culture, and defines the environments relevant for the existence of the company. In this way, it is possible to discover new scope for action, generate new forms of benefit for customers and other stakeholders, and at the same time continue to focus on responsible management. Compliance management, as a special aspect of corporate governance, occupies a special position in monitoring rule-compliant behavior. Effective compliance has to be anchored in the values and practices of a company. Both managers and employees should be in no doubt that compliance-accordantconformal behavior is beneficial to themselves and to the company. This is achieved in particular by dealing openly with compliance issues, which have to be communicated in a comprehensible manner, i.e., in a way that can be understood by all levels. Understanding also refers to the recognition of compliance risks when they are encountered. Filtering this out of the many pieces of daily information, especially in the context of contradiction and uncertainty, requires ongoing training in the perception and processing of such information. More precisely, this involves learning for the purpose of recognition. The task of Internal Communications is to create access to learning by providing a continuous, structured supply of information and by providing opportunities for exchange that are attractive enough for employees to perceive and accept them as beneficial.
