Abstract

Innovation-oriented corporate management is considered one of the most important orientations of corporate management, especially against the backdrop of digitalization. In this context, both theory and praxis move between highly specialized expert solutions on the one hand and different variants of the open innovation model on the other. From the communication-centered perspective, the focus is on the design of open innovation processes. In this regard, a wide range of action models for corporate management can be observed, each of which is associated with specific communicative challenges. At the heart of an expanded open innovation concept is the question of how it is possible to generate innovation impulses from both external and internal stakeholder relationships, both in the context of structured planning processes and in the form of completely unplanned, happy coincidences. In order to create marketable innovations from such impulses or ideas, they are compared with existing knowledge and prevailing interpretations in the organization in order to finally agree on selected experiments. This absorption from idea generation to actual innovation is to be understood as a highly communicative process that internal corporate communication helps to shape.
