Abstract

This chapter presents an overview of the strategic cooperation between EU and India with emphasis on trade and investments, cooperation agreements, and standardisation related projects. Standardisation is a key factor for trade policy and is at the forefront of technological development. Through the “EU-India Strategic Partnership: A Roadmap to 2025”, both sides, having agreed on provisions to strengthen trade and market access and notably on alignment to international standards, took a significant step in facilitating bilateral as well as international trade. This chapter specifically covers projects and cooperation instruments, which have been established by the EU and Germany in India defining the commitment to deepen the collaboration on standards, namely the “Seconded European Standardization Expert in India”, the “India-EU Cooperation on ICT-Related Standardisation, Policy and Legislation” and the “The International Digital Cooperation – ICT Standardization” for the collaboration on 5G & beyond, IoT, Artificial Intelligence, Blockchain etc. Technologies including their security aspects.
