Abstract

Zusammenfassung Künstliche Intelligenz (KI) ist heute zentraler Bestandteil in vielen Unternehmen und wird in Zukunft weiter an Bedeutung gewinnen, da v. a. durch den Einsatz künstlicher Neuronaler Netzwerke (Deep Learning) immer präzisere und vielseitigere KI-Modelle erstellt werden können. Eine der Grundlagen für die Entwicklung von KI ist Open Source Software (OSS), also frei verfügbare Softwaretechnologien. Eine andere wichtige Grundlage sind die Fortschritte in der Hardwareentwicklung, schnellere und anwendungsoptimierte Prozessoren und Speichersysteme. Diese Form der Verfügbarkeit von Software zusammen mit dem Quellcode stellt einen fundamentalen Paradigmenwechsel dar, der v. a. durch Techunternehmen vorangetrieben wird. Da die beiden Themenkomplexe KI und Open Source eng miteinander verknüpft sind, hat diese gegenseitige Abhängigkeit eine direkte Auswirkung auf die Digitalisierungsstrategie der meisten Unternehmen, ihrer Organisation und Firmenstruktur. Insbesondere für Unternehmen im Transformationsprozess, die sich weg von einem reinen Produzenten hin zu einem serviceorientierten Unternehmen wandeln wollen bzw. müssen, lohnt sich ein genauer Blick auf neue Geschäftsmodelle im Zusammenhang mit OSS. Generell lässt sich seit einigen Jahren eine gestiegene Akzeptanz von OSS in Unternehmen feststellen. Deshalb werden zudem Gefahren und Herausforderungen von Open Source im gewerblichen Einsatz im letzten Teil des Buchkapitels besprochen.
